보니 타일러(Bonnie Tyler, 1953~) 영국, 웨일스 출생.
1976년에 앨범 [The World Starts Tonight].데뷔

남자 가수에게서도 쉽게 찾아볼 수 없는 허스키 보이스로 1970년대 중반에
전 세계적으로 인기를 모았던 '보니 타일러'는 7살 때부터 클럽에서 노래를 
하며 타고난 재능을 어릴 적부터 마음껏 발산하며 가수의 꿈을 키워 간다.

 

 

'Holding Out For a Hero' 이곡은 남자 주인공역에 '케빈 베이커'와 여자 주인공역에

'로리 싱어'의 열연으로 1984년에 '허버트 로스'(Herbert Ross) 감독이 만든 영화,

'자유의 댄스'(Footloose) OST로 '보니 타일러' (Bonnie Tyler)의 곡으로 

1984년 1월 일에 영화 OST 앨범으로 발표되었으며, 같은 해 4월에 싱글로 발매되었다.

 

 

 

 5년동안 슬럼프에 빠져서 방황했던 '보니 타일러'에게 구원의 손길처럼
다가온 작곡가 겸 프로듀서 '짐 스테인먼'이 '보니 타일러'를 이 곡을 부를
적임자로 추천해서 이곡이 전 세계적으로 히트하며 그녀를 슬럼프에서

끌어올렸던 곡으로 특히 우리나라에서는 1980년대 중반 무렵 나이트클럽에서
'보니 타일러'의 'Holding Out For a Hero'는 단골 송이 되었을 만큼 대단한
인기를 제법 오랫동안 모았던 곡이다. 강렬한 사운드에 '보니 타일러'의 
허스키하면서도 힘 있게 쏟아붓는 창법이 노래와 너무 잘 어울린다.
